Mr. Rude is part of the Mr. Men series by Roger Hargreaves. He is exactly as his name suggests—rude to everyone he meets. He insults people, interrupts them, and never says please or thank you. His behavior makes others feel upset and unwelcome.

One day, a man named Mr. Happy decides to visit Mr. Rude to help him change his ways. Mr. Happy shows him how unpleasant it feels to be treated rudely by being rude to Mr. Rude in return. This makes Mr. Rude realize how bad it feels, and he begins to change.

By the end of the book, Mr. Rude learns the importance of kindness and good manners—though he still struggles a little, he is not quite as rude as before.

The story teaches children about the value of politeness, empathy, and treating others with respect.

The author, late Roger Hargreaves created the Mr. Men series for his son, Adam, who currently oversees the estate and creates illustrations for new Mr. Men books.
